Portable NVIS antenna system

This is a quickly assembled NVIS antenna for 40m. Each leg is 30 feet minus about 6 inches used for attaching to the coax connector. It is resonant at 7270 with a SWR of 1.2:1  as measured by a MFJ 259B analyzer. It just landed there. No adjustments made.

Read here about NVIS antennas. One of our local hams has said that a 6 foot height is critical but this article talks about anywhere in the 8-15 foot height as working well.

This one is erected at a family vacation spot in Arkansas. It was assembled in about an hour and hung behind my travel trailer. I was able to check into the 7290 traffic net and could hear almost every station in spite of horrible band conditions on May 26, 2013.

Here you see the overall all view of the components. The center is at about 6 feet and drooping. I did not have sufficient material with which to draw it tight.

The storage bag is the original military rubberized canvas bag that held my aluminum poles, now used for a vertical antenna. This system can be packed in that bag for storage and quick deployment.
